Russian language has three tenses, present, future and past. Today’s lesson is about the past tense. This is the easiest tense to form.
Russian verbs in the past tense is easy to form. In opposition to other tenses which have a different ending according to the subject (я, ты, он, она, оно, мы, вы, они), the past tense has only four different endings according to the number and the gender.
To form the past tense, it is necessary to use the stem of verbs. In most cases, it is obtained by dropping the final -ть of the infinitive and to replace it by -л when the subject is masculine, -ла when the subject is feminine, -ло when the subject is neuter or -ли for the plural form.

The past tense of verbs ending with the particule -ся
Intransitive verbs are verbs that end with -ся (заниматься: to be occupied with , учиться: to study, улыбаться: to smile…)
