A Christmas Song: “Расскажи, Снегурочка, Где Была?”

(You Just wait!) is the most popular Soviet-Russian animated series. From the 20 episodes, 16 were released between 1969 and 1986. The four last ones were released after 1991.

The two main characters are a rabbit and a wolf. In a similar way that the American animation “Tom and Jerry”, the wolf try to catch the rabbit, but the rabbit is too smart for him.

The following song is issued from the 8th episode of the series. This is a Christmas song for children and both the rabbit and the wolf are singing. The rabbit is playing the role of Дед Мороз (Santa Claus), while the wolf is disguised as Снегурочка (the Snow Maiden).

To make it easier for you to follow at first, when the rabbit-Santa Claus is singing the lines will be in black and when it will be the turn of wolf- Snow Maiden, the lines will be in blue.

Tell me Snegurochka, where have you been?
Tell me, my dear, how are you?
I was running after you Santa Claus,
I shed many bitter tears.

Come on, let’s go out to dance.
No Santa Claus, no Santa Claus,
No Santa Claus wait.

Children are waiting for my presents
And you’ll get one from me.
Finally all my dreams come true,
My best gift it’s you.

Come on, let’s go out to dance.
No Santa Claus, no Santa Claus,
No Santa Claus wait.
