Accusative Case of Singular Nouns

Today, you will see the accusative case denoting an object acted upon inanimate and animate singular nouns. The accusative case has the particularity to make a distinction beetween inanimate and animate nouns.

Inanimate Nouns in the Accusative Singular

Both masculine and feminine singular animate nouns in the accusative form have their ending changed. Feminine nouns change to -у or -ю,  as inanime feminine nouns do and masculine nouns change to -а or -я. 

Examples:

Я вижу улицу. (I see the street.) Он читает журнал. (He is reading the newspaper.) Мы слушаем музыку. (We are listening to music.) Дети любят молоко. (Children love milk.) Я изучаю математику. (I am learning mathematics.)
